Billie Lourd Posted an Instagram Tribute on the Anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s Death

Today, December 27, marks two years since Carrie Fisher passed away. As fans take to social media to commemorate the Star Wars actor, her daughter, Billie Lourd shared her own touching tribute.

Following a commemorative post that she shared in 2017, Billie again honored the memory of her mother, posting an Instagram video that has her singing one of Carrie's favorite songs. In the clip's accompanying caption, the American Horror Story actor explained her intentions with the post, writing, "It has been two years since my Momby’s death and I still don’t know what the “right” thing to do on a death anniversary is (I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones). So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together - sing."

She continues, sharing the story behind the piano and her choice of song. "This is the piano her father gave her and this was one of her favorite songs," she writes. "And as the song says, we must “keep on moving”. I’ve found that what keeps me moving is doing things that make me happy, working hard on the things that I’m passionate about and surrounding myself with people I love and making them smile. I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to “keep on moving”.

In her closing words on the post, Billie shares a quote her mother admired, writing, "As my Momby once said, “take your broken heart and turn it into art” - whatever that art may be for you."

The video has clearly resonated with fans, and many followers expressed their thoughts for Billie. "Beautiful & honest," one Instagram user wrote. "Your Momby will never be forgotten. The legacy she left will live on forever." Another fan also wrote a note of encouragement, saying, "This is pure beautiful Billie such a beautiful tribute to your mom we will always miss her!!"

Since Carrie's passing, Billie has continued to honor her mother's memory, first wearing a Princess Leia hairstyle to a 2017 premiere of The Last Jedi and then getting a tattoo to match one that her mother had.
